Sensex gains nearly 150 pts, Nifty inches towards 10500; ONGC, Tata Motors top gainers

The benchmark indices hit their all-time highs thanks to gains in index heavyweights ONGC, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. Gains were, however, capped by muted trend seen in Asian markets, which tumbled from decade highs.

At 14:06 hours, BSE SENSEX was at 33832.49 up by 146.93 points or by 0.44 % and then NSE Nifty was at 10481.05 up by 28.55 points or by 0.27 %.

The BSE MIDCAP was at 16825.92 up by 112.81 points or by 0.67 %. while the BSE SMLCAP was at 17968.98 up by 112.95 points or by 0.63 %.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 33848.42 and intraday low of 33582.38, The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10490.45 and intraday low of 10413.75.

European markets are mixed to lower. Shares in France are off as the CAC 40 drops 0.15%. The DAX is down 0.06% while the FTSE 100 in London is unchanged.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 257.95,+4.48%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 198.15,+3.55%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 461.20,+3.20%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1369.50,+2.88%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 8351.45,+1.64%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 544.65,-1.37%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 533.75,-1.16%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 937.50,-0.86%), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 1040.50,-0.83%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1164.30,-0.78%), among others.

Among the sectors, BSE_CDS index was at 20142.57 up by 1540.35 points or by 8.28%. Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 778.05,+17.99%), PC Jeweller Ltd. (Rs. 373.50,+5.57%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 223.30,+3.02%), Nilkamal Ltd. (Rs. 1635.00,+1.43%), Bajaj Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 396.95,+0.84%).

On the other hand, BSE_Bankex index was at 29089.46 down by -2.68 points or by -0.01%. Punjab National Bank (Rs. 203.35,-1.91%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1649.00,-1.53%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 533.75,-1.16%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 322.75,-0.98%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1015.00,-0.06%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3026, shares advanced were 1607 while 1246 shares declined and 173 were unchanged.
