Sensex, Nifty firm; Consumer goods stocks support

Indian benchmarks continued to trade higher during the noon trading session tracking positive global cues along with positive services PMI data. India's dominant services industry activity expanded at its fastest pace in four months in October as demand continued to strengthen, despite accelerating price pressures. The Nikkei India Services Purchasing Managers’ Index rose to 51.7 in October from September’s 50.7.

At 13:45 hours, the30-share benchmark index was trading at 33662.71 up by 89.49 points or by 0.27 % and then NSE Nifty was at 10447.85 up by 24.05 points or by 0.23 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 33692.58 and intraday low of 33531.94 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10461.7 and intraday low of 10403.6

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 321.15,+1.97%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 551.35,+1.52%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1784.15,+1.29%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1226.50,+1.28%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 536.70,+1.25%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 286.90,-1.63%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 555.00,-1.46%), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 1048.30,-1.19%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1321.25,-1.05%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3695.00,-1.02%), among others.

Among the sectors, CGS index was at 18566.41 up by 166.49 points or by 0.9%. GE T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 419.00,+4.41%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 100.50,+2.97%), Mahindra CIE Automotive Ltd. (Rs. 253.00,+2.70%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 16.75,+2.13%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1226.50,+1.28%),.
